A domestic helper charged with two counts of theft for stealing one pair of earrings, along with three T-shirts, one sweater and one bra, was imprisoned for two months on Wednesday (October 7) after she pleaded guilty at Eastern Court.
J. Clemenso, 40 years old, was jailed by Chief
Magistrate So Wai-tak for 40 days for the theft of the earrings, and two months
for the theft of the clothing. So ordered
the two sentences to run concurrently.
She was convicted of violating section 9 of the Theft
Ordinance.
Clemenso was charged with stealing one packet containing a pair of earrings owned by her employer between June and September 2, 2026, at a
toilet inside the master bedroom of a unit in Jade Beach Villa on Horizon
Drive, Chung Hom Kok, in Hong Kong.

She was also charged with stealing the clothing items owned
by the employer on the same date and place.
Meanwhile, a Filipina domestic helper was remanded in jail
along with an Indian asylum seeker accused of robbing and detaining a South Asian
man, along with a Pakistani was allowed bail of $15,000 plus surety of $15,000.
Kowloon City Court Acting Principal Magistrate Cheng Lim-chi
adjourned to October 15 for Jinky Joy Cortado’s bail review, but set the
resumption of the case to December 2.
Pakistani Rizwan Iqbal and Indian Amandip Singh were charged
with robbery contrary to section 10 of the Theft Ordinance, and false
imprisonment contrary to Common Law, and punishable under section 101f of the
Criminal Procedure Ordinance.
Cortado is accused of aiding and abetting both men in the robbery
and false imprisonment.
They were accused of robbing Mahboob Mohammand of one
sling bag containing three ATM cards, one Apple iPhone 17 Pro mobile phone and $60,000
in cash, with a total value of $70,000 on August 25 2026, inside Flat A, 5/F,
187 Ma Tau Wai Road, Hung Hom, Kowloon.
After this, the three allegedly “assaulted and unlawfully and
injuriously imprisoned” Mohammand against his will in the same flat.
