A Filipina former domestic helper was
reportedly killed on Apr 10 by her boyfriend, a Gambian national, in their flat
in Tokwawan, Kowloon.
The victim was identified by her friends, and
confirmed by the Consulate, as 40-year-old Adele Cuyacot, from Bicol. She was
reportedly a single mother to a grown-up daughter due to graduate from college
this month.

A press statement issued by the police early this morning said they received a call from a 37-year-old NEC (non ethnic Chinese) man who said that he had killed his 40-year-old wife inside a unit on Pang Ching street.

But initial reports quoted the police as saying that the woman could have been dead for 12 to 20 hours.
Police said they arrested the man, who was then turned over to the District Crime Squad of the Kowloon City
District for further questioning.
The case has been classified as murder.
Cuyacot’s friends say she had been going out with
her boyfriend they described as a “black guy” for some time.
They knew her as a domestic worker whose employer
lived in Hunghom.
But according to Danny Baldon, staff at the
Consulate’s assistance to nationals section, the report they got from the
police indicated she was a “former domestic helper”. They could not immediately determine what status she had at the time of her death. – with a report from Merly Bunda
