2 Filipina DHs among 6 new imported cases of Covid-19

The two Filipinas flew in via CX 906 but on different dates

Two Filipina domestic workers, one recently arrived and the other already in quarantine, are among six new cases of Covid-19 reported today, Sept 7.

All the new cases involve the L452R mutant strain of the coronavirus, staff at the Department of Health said.

The two Filipinas were both fully vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine in Hong Kong before they went home to the Philippines. Both flew in aboard Cathay Pacific flight CX 906 but on different dates.

One of them, who is 37 years old, arrived on Sept 5 and tested positive on her arrival test.


She was vaccinated on May 12 and Jun 9, and tested positive for antibodies on Jul 28.

The other one is 41 years old and arrived on Sept 3. She was found infected on Day 3 of her stay at Best Western Hotel in Sai Ying Pun.


Three of the remaining patients also tested positive on their arrival in Hong Kong, including a 50-year-old female air crew who came in from the United Kingdom via British Airways flight BA 031. She had two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the uK on Mar 19 and May 26.

The two others are a 42-year-old woman who flew in from the United States via CX833 and a 46-year-old man who came from the UK via CX 252. Both received their two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in HK between May 2 and Jul 2.


The sixth patient is a 49-year-old man from Tanzania who arrived on board flight KL819 on Sept 3. He tested positive on his third-day sample while in quarantine at Ramada Harbour View Hotel in Sai Ying Pun. He was fully vaccinated with one dose of the Johnson&Johnson vaccine.

The new cases took Hong Kong’s total infection tally to 12,135.

A total of 66 new infections were reported in the two weeks until yesterday, and all are imported cases.
