The 3 imported cases flew in aboard 2 separate Cebu Pacific flights from Manila

For the first time in months, no new death related to Covid-19 was reported by health authorities on Saturday.

However, 278 new infections were reported, including one from a growing cluster of cases from a Chinese restaurant in Yuen Long.

Also among the new cases were 18 imported cases, including 10 detected at Hong Kong airport.

Three passengers from the Philippines were among those who tested positive at the airport. Two came aboard 5J114, the evening flight of Cebu Pacific on Thursday, and one on 5J 272, the early morning flight on Friday.

Also among them were three who took flight TK083 from Turkey through Bangkok, two on flight CX829 from Canada, and one each from flight JL735 from Japan and KL819 from the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, genome sequencing showed two more patients who arrived separately from Canada and the US, both carried the Omicron sub-variants BA.2.12 and BA.12.1.

The patients, one male and two females, arrived in Hong Kong between Apr 30 to May 3 and tested positive at the airport.

In all, Hong Kong has recorded 13 such cases, all of them imported.

Meanwhile, Dr Albert Au of the Centre for Health Protection has identified the Covid-stricken restaurant as Peony Golden Court, where three cases have been reported so far.

4 cases have now been linked to the Yuen Long restaurant

Au said the patients involving three men and a woman did not know each other, but they had all visited the restaurant from 6:30 am to 9pm on May 1.

Two of them tested positive on Tuesday, the other on Tuesday, and the last one on Thursday.

Seven of their close contacts have been sent to a quarantine centre and one of them tested positive on Friday.

About 190 other customers who had been to the restaurant during that period and about 50 workers will be subjected to compulsory testing.

In the past 24 hours, 155 patients have recovered from Covid, and 106 of them have been discharged.

Since 2020, a total of 61,135 patients have recovered from Covid, and 60,483 have been discharged.
