A Filipina domestic helper was acquitted today of a charge of theft after a trial at the Kowloon City Court.
May Sanchez, 42 years old, had denied stealing $160,000
worth of items from her employer at King’s Park Villa in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon over
a six-year period, from 2016 to July 2022.

The items consisted of two keys and 25 accessories, owned
by her employer Chau Chun Kut.
The complaint, filed by police in 2023 and re-amended last
March 3, had accused Sanchez of violation of Section 9 of the Theft Ordinance.

However, Magistrate Peter Yu ruled that the prosecution failed to prove her guilt beyond
reasonable doubt.
