Two Filipinas have ended their dispute, which resulted in criminal charges being filed against them at the Tuen Mun Court, when Acting Principal Magistrate Daniel Tang issued his decision on the cases on Wednesday.
Magistrate Tang ruled that the charges – common assault against
housewife Ma. Concepcion Gatdula, 47 years old, and criminal damage against
domestic helper Leyla Juntado, aged 41 – be dropped.
He also ordered Juntado to pay $3,000 to Gatdula as compensation for the mobile phone that she damaged,
as this was what prompted the latter to attack her.

Gatdula was charged with common assault contrary to Common
Law and punishable under section 40 of the Offences against the Person
Ordinance.as a result of her confrontaton with Juntado last July 21, at a flat in
Pearl House on 1-11 Yuen Long On Lok Road, Yuen Long.
Juntado on the other had, was charged with criminal damage contrary
to section 60(1) of the Crimes Ordinance, for damaging a mobile phone belonging
to female Gatdula, “intending to damage such property or being reckless as to
whether such property would be damaged,” the police said.
Meanwhile, at the same court, Magistrate Tang sentenced domestic
helper Lovely Fe Caldeo to two weeks’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to
stealing $3,500 cash from Chan Ka Yan.
Caldeo, 41 years old, was charged with theft, contrary to section 9
of the Theft Ordinance.
She committed the offense last June 22 at Nam Hang Tsuen,
Nam Hang Tsuen Road, Yuen Long.
