Deported Pinay who returned under new name jailed 18 months

A Filipina who had been deported 20 years ago and then returned to Hong Kong with a passport under a new name, was jailed for 18 months today after pleading guilty at Eastern Court.

Rizalie Enriquez, 44 years old, tearfully admitted that she is the Rhodora Paraso Belderol, who was deported on May 23, 2006. “Opo, inaamin ko po,” she said to a court interpreter, who translated it to English for the court.

Principal Magistrate David Cheung handed down the sentence after deducting the usual one-third discount for a guilty plea. He also cancelled the hearing earlier scheduled for October 9.

Enriquez was charged with breach of deportation order, contrary to section 43(1) (a) of the Immigration Ordinance.

The charge sheet filed by Police said Enriqueż was in contravention of the May 23, 2006 deportation order and prohibited from being in Hong Kong at any time thereafter, when she was arrested last August 13 in Wanchai.

During investigation, Enriquez was positively identified as the deported Rhodora Belderol when her fingerprint matched that which was taken 20 years ago.
