4 Filipina DHs among Hong Kong's 8 new Covid-19 cases

26 September 2021

By Daisy CL Mandap

No flight ban was triggered for PAL because its 3 passengers got infected while in quarantine

Four Filipina domestic helpers, three of whom arrived together aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR 300 from Manila on Sept 22, are among eight confirmed Covid-19 infections reported in Hong Kong today, Sept 26.

The three, aged 38, 42 and 46, were already on their third day of hotel quarantine when found infected, so the flight suspension imposed by Hong Kong when at least three passengers test positive on arrival test, was not triggered.

The fourth case involves another Filipina domestic worker aged 36 who flew in also on Sept 22 but aboard Cebu Pacific flight 5J272.

All of the Filipinas were fully vaccinated, two in the Philippines and two in Hong Kong.

Those without symptoms include the two other PAL passengers, a 42-year-old who was quarantined at Ramada Grand Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui; and a 38-year-old who was at Silka Tsuen Wan Hotel.

The test results of two other Filipinas and a 64-year-old male patient who came from the United States, are still pending. The fourth FDH did not have enough viral load so it could not be tested for any variant.

The first was vaccinated with BioNTech in Hong Kong on Apr 19 and May 10, while the teenager is unvaccinated.

The US arrival whose test result is still pending came on Sept 21 via CX 845. He was in quarantine at Nina Hotel in Island South when he tested positive for Covid-19. He had his two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in Hong Kong on Mar 17 and Apr 8.

All the last three patients are asymptomatic.
