The helper moved to her employer's house in Heng Fa Chuen after her quarantine

Six new Covid-19 infections were reported today, Oct 6, including an Indonesian foreign domestic helper previously reported as having tested preliminary positive and whose case has now been classified as “re-positive.”

Staff at the Health Department said the classification was based on a set of factors, and not on any record of the patient testing positive for the coronavirus previously.

The other cases include two unvaccinated male sea crew from Ukraine, aged 27 and 29, who arrived on Oct 4 and were found to carry the L452R strain of the coronavirus.

Two others flew in from Pakistan on the same date via EK 384.

A 49-year-old man reported having symptoms on the day of his arrival in Hong Kong, and was tested positive for the L452R strain at the airport. He was fully vaccinated with Sinovac in Pakistan.

The other passenger is a 34-year-old man who was asymptomatic and also tested positive for Covid-19 on his arrival test. He is asymptomatic, and received two jabs of Sinovac in India. The result of his test for variants is still pending.

The sixth patient is a 50-year-old air crew from Russia who arrived on Oct 5 via flight F7-H119. He developed symptoms on Sept 30 and received two Sputnik jabs in Russia. His test result for the presence of variants is pending.

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Indonesian DH reportedly tested negative for Covid-19 on Oct 5, but positive the previous day, the 30th day since she arrived in Hong Kong. On Oct 3 her test result was indeterminate so she was sent to the hospital for observation and further testing.

The helper arrived on Sept 4 from Indonesia via flight CX2780 and stayed at Silka Tsuen Wan hotel. Her specimen sample taken on arrival at the airport tested negative, as well as five samples taken from her during quarantine.

An antibody test conducted on her at the hospital had a positive result. Records showed she had two jabs of the Sinovac vaccine in Indonesia on Jul 19 and Aug 16.

“After examining the epidemiological, clinical and laboratory findings, this case is considered compatible with a re-positive case,” said a statement from the Centre for Health Department.

Despite this, her employer’s residential block in Heng Fa Chuen, Chai Wan where the helper moved after quarantine has been put under a compulsory testing notice, as well as Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, as she had been there on Oct 1 and 3.
