Sixteen Filipina domestic helpers and five
men - three Filipinos, an Indian and a Pakistani - were arrested on Saturday
night, Sept 11, on suspicion of illegal gambling in Central, police said.
A police spokeswoman said Sunday those arrested had all been released on bail and issued fixed penalty notices for illegal group gathering. They were also booked for illegal gambling and will all report back to the police in late September, the officer said.

She said the 21 were arrested at 10:30pm on Murray St beside Chater Garden during an operation conducted by officers from the Special Duties Unit of the Central Police District and from the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters.

The arrested women were reportedly all helpers aged from 32 to 68, the officer said, but the men are not.

Police confiscated three sets of playing cards and a small amount of money during the operation, the officer said.
