Further investigation reportedly revealed that the 50-year-old
Filipina held recognizance papers, meaning she is applying to remain in Hong
Kong and avoid deportation. With her was a 54-year-old man said to be a US
national.
According to the police, the group ran by the two
was connected to several cases last month in which counterfeit HK$100 and
HK$500 banknotes were passed off as genuine, usually to pay for taxi fares.
The two suspects remain in custody while an
investigation is ongoing.
