A case against a 16-year-old Filipino student accused of rape and publishing child pornography before the Eastern Court, was adjourned today prior to its elevation to the District Court.
Prosecutors asked for the adjournment of the case against L. U. for the preparation of transfer papers. Principal Magistrate David
Cheung granted the request by scheduling a new hearing for Oct. 14.
The student is accused of raping X last Feb. 14 inside the Bonham Commercial
Center in Sheung Wan, in violation of section 118(1) of the Crimes Ordinance.

A second charge accuses him of publishing eight nude photo of X between
Feb. 7 and March 21 this year, in violation of section 3(2) of the Prevention of
Child Pornography Ordinance.
Hong Kong magistrate courts normally elevate rape cases to a higher court as these are beyond the magistrate's sentencing power.
