A Filipina who overstayed in Hong Kong for more than two years, was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment after she pleaded guilty today at Shatin Court to breach of condition of stay.

Pines, 38 years old, a one-third discount for her guilty plea.

Pines was on a domestic helper‘s employment contract which entitled
her to remain in Hong Kong until May 11, 2024 or two weeks after termination.
However, she was terminated on March 4, 2024 and remained in
Hong Kong until she was arrested on March 17 this year, according to the complaint filed by the Immigration Department..
