Typhoon Noul notwithstanding, a small group of Filipino migrant domestic
workers aligned with Migrante Hong Kong gathered in Central on Sunday to hit
out at the Philippine government ahead of the 5th State of the National
Address by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
About 50 MDWs held up posters declaring the gathering as “People’s SONA in Hong Kong” and denounced what it called as the unholy alliance between Marcos, former President Rodrigo Duterte and the United States government.
The group alleged the Marcos-Duterte governments never made the people’s interests as their priority, but existed only to serve their US masters.
“Walang ibang makikipaglaban para sa kaligtasan at kinabukasan ng sambayanan kundi tayo mismong bumubuo ng sambayanang Pilipino,”(No one will fight for the safety and future of the Filipino people except we Filipinos ourselves),”said the protesters.

They also denounced Marcos for calling out corrupt officials in his SONA last year, but not following up on his vow to go after all of them.
After saying “Mahiya naman kayo sa taumbayan” (You should be ashamed for doing this to the Filipino people), Marcos has so far only managed to get the Ombudsman to file charges against a few people, said the protesters.
No one among those uncovered to have stolen hundreds of millions of pesos in public funds meant for flood control has shown any remorse for what they did, either.
They called on fellow Filipinos to stand up and fight for the country, and denounce the ‘fascist’ regime of Marcos and the US.
