The Hong Kong Observatory says it will consider raising higher tropical cyclone signals between 9pm and midnight tonight, as Typhoon Noul heads towards the coast of Guangdong.
The Strong Wind
Signal No 3 was raised at 1:20pm today.
Noul is forecast
to skirt around 100 kilometers north-east of Hong Kong, and is expected to
bring with it gale-force winds over parts of the city.

At its present
track, Noul will make landfall between Huizhou and
Shanwei on Sunday morning.
Airlines have cancelled around 150 flights
to and from Hong Kong with Noul’s approach, including Philippine flag carriers
Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific, which
Cathay Pacific said it has cancelled all
flights departing from and arriving in Hong Kong from 1:15am until 6pm on Sunday,
while its budget arm, Hong Kong Airlines, have suspended about 30 flights.
Affected passengers will be automatically rebooked
on available flights at no cost, but they can also ask for fare refunds.
Frequent heavy squally showers and
thunderstorms are expected with the approach of Noul to Hong Kong tomorrow
morning. Temperatures will range between 26 and 29 degrees.
The showers are expected to continue until Monday.
People are advised to stay away from the
shoreline and not engage in water sports because of possible swells.
