Filipino DH accused of HK$800k theft

A 33-year-old Filipino domestic helper is being held by police after allegedly stealing jewelry from her employers worth around HK$800,000.

Police say they received a call at 9:57pm on Sunday from the 59-year-old Indian male employer, who claimed that his 60-year-old wife had just found that a batch of their jewelry was missing, and suspected that their helper had stolen them.

Officers who responded to the call went to the house at Monterey Cove in Carribean Coast, Tung Chung, and after preliminary investigation, the helper was arrested. She is still being detained as of this writing.

The Criminal Investigation Team from the Lantau Police District is handling the case.
