Penny's Bay opened its doors to newly arrived FDHs only a week ago

A 40-year-old Filipina domestic helper who was spending her quarantine at Penny’s Bay is among three new Covid-19 cases reported in Hong Kong today, Sept 27.

She is the first foreign domestic helper staying at the government-designated quarantine facility to have been found infected with the coronavirus. Penny's Bay opened to FDHs arriving from overseas only on Sept 20.

The two others, a female aged 19 and a male who is 38, are both returning residents who flew in aboard Qatar Air QR818, one originally from Kazakhstan, and the other from Egypt.

All the patients carried the L452R mutant strain, and all are fully vaccinated.

According to staff at the Department of Health, the Filipina DH flew in aboard Philippine Airlines flight PR300 on Sept 23. She tested positive on her third-day sample.

She had both jabs of the Sinovac vaccine in the Philippines, on Jun 1 and Jun 30.

The 19-year-old female passenger from Kazakhstan flew in aboard QR818 on Sept 25, and tested positive on her arrival test. She had the Sputnik jabs in Kazakhstan on Jul 31 and Aug 23.

The other QR818 passenger is a 38-year-old man who arrived on Sept 23, and tested positive while in quarantine at Nina Hotel in Wong Chuk Hang. He had two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in Hong Kong on Mar 23 and Apr 13.

The new cases took Hong Kong’s total Covid-19 tally to 12,196 confirmed cases.

The CHP reminded specified persons in relation to Aigburth at 12 Tregunter Path and 7 Lyttelton Road, both at Mid-Levels, that they need to undergo compulsory testing tomorrow, Sept 28.
