A Filipina domestic helper was jailed for two months yesterday after she pleaded guilty at Eastern Court to stealing a diamond ring and two platinum rings from her employer.
But a review hearing is scheduled today for Sheila Mae Bajar, 42 years old, who confessed to theft in violation
of section 9 of the Theft Ordinance, in a hearing before Principal Magistrate
Don So.

She admitted stealing the jewelry, with a total value of $192,800, between March 1 and July 15 last year at her employer’s home in Residence Bel-Ai in Pokfulam.
Meanwhile, Armando Molina, a Filipino who is facing a charge
of breach of condition of stay for for not leaving Hong Kong after arriving as
a tourist on Oct. 30, 2006, has worsened his case by not showing up in a
hearing at the Shatin Court.

Molina, 47 years old, is charged with violation of the Immigration
Ordinance after he stayed in Hong Kong after his 14-day visa expired on Nov.
13, 2006, until he was arrested on Sept. 23, 2011.
Acting Principal Magistrate Cheang Kei-hong issued a warrant
for his arrest, froze his existing bail and ordered police not to release him
on bail.
