Seniors may bring up their tech health concerns to any of the 40 help desks |
Some 100,000 elderly Hongkongers stand to benefit from a government project aimed at providing them training and technical support in facing technological challenges.
Under the “Smart Silver” Digital Inclusion Programme
for Elders, about 40 help desks have been set up across the city to help technology-challenged
seniors aged 60 and above.

All venues are easily accessible like community
centers, district councilor’s offices and elderly centers.
The initiative follows the government’s announcement
in the 2024-25 Budget of $100 million being set aside to to subsidize non-governmental
organizations for implementing a comprehensive digital inclusion program.

The partner oganizations will offer training on various mobile applications including iAM Smart, eHealth and other platforms designed to enhance the daily lives of seniors while promoting cyber security.
For
more details on the program, the government’s news portal, news,gov.hk has just
posted an interview with a representative from the Digital Policy Office, as
well as reactions from some elderly participants and a service provider.
