A Filipino couple on domestic helpers visas has been returned to jail after failing to secure bail during an appearance at Eastern Court, charged with drug trafficking and endangering the health of their two-year old son.
The two – a male identified only as VRV, 42 years old and
works as a driver, and female QTT, aged 36 and a housewife – were held in jail
custody with the adjournment of their case to September 22.
In a hearing on Tuesday (July 21), the man offered a cash bail of $8,000 for his temporary release and the woman
offered $2,000, but both were rejected by Principal Magistrate David Cheung.

The case, he said, is serious as it involves coccaine and
cannabis. “You were caught redhanded,” he said.
Besides, the woman committed the alleged offense while on
bail for another case.
Both are jointly charged with trafficking in a dangerous
drug contrary to sections 4(1)(a) and (3) of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, and
ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of child or young person contrary
to section 27(1) of the Offences Against the Person Ordinance.
VRV and QTT were accused of unlawfully trafficking in a
dangerous drug, namely 83 transparent resealable plastic bags containing
cocaine and 132 resealable plastic bags containing cannabis buds, on March 19,
2026, in their flat at Lamma Island, New Territories.
And because they were arrested in their flat, they were also accused of willfully ill-treating or neglecting their son, identified only as BoyX, “in a manner likely to cause the said Boy X unnecessary suffering and injury to his health,” according to information provided by Police.
The couple is being helped with their cases by the Migrant Workers Office at the Consulate General of the Philippines.
