A Filipina was jailed for 10 months after she pleaded guilty
at Tuen Mun Court today for stealing gold jewelry owned by her employer.
Catherine Mangalos, 33 years old, had been charged with theft,
contrary to section 9 of the Theft Ordinance.
Magistrate David Chum handed down the sentence after hearng
Mangalos confirm the facts mentioned in the statement filed by Yuen Long Police
last July 6.

Mangalos admitted stealing six gold bracelets and gold
necklaces, the property of Qadeer Ameeqah, between December 7, 2025 and June 21
this year at a flat in Vianni Cove on Tin Kwai Road, Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long.
The value of the jewelry was not disclosed.
Meanwhile at Kowloon City Court, two Indonesians were handed a six-week prison sentence each after also pleading guilty to shoplifting $154.60 worth of food items, which is also contrary to section 9 of the Theft Ordinance.

Angelo Mansanilia Yu, 36 years old, and asylum seeker Indah Anik,
34 years old, admitted guilt after facts
of the case were read before Acting Principal Magistrate Cheng Lim-chi.
A Police statement dated February 26 this year accused both
of stealing two packs of cake, two cups of pudding and one pack of mango sticky
rice with a total value at $154.60, the property of Aeon Stores (Hong Kong) Co.
Limited.
The theft took place last February 1, 2026, at an Aeon store
on the ground floor of Oak Mansions (Site 5), Whampoa Garden, 7 Tak Fung
Street, Hung Hom.
